Well, as I hinted at earlier, I'm making a very big change. After working independently - teaching at Animation Mentor (which I'll miss greatly), lecturing abroad, writing, painting and all sorts of other things, I've decided to return to the Animation Industry full time. Yes, I'm packing the bags again. bye bye Vancouver.
In 2012 my wife and I will be moving to Singapore, as I have accepted a position to be the new Animation and Creative Director of an exciting young studio there. I've been given the challenge and responsibility of guiding the creative vision of the company and it's incredibly exciting. The core team of artists/management is amazing, and it's the most exciting thing I've been a part of since I first became a professional artist.
For now, I've got to busily wrap things up for our move, but I'll follow up with more details soon!
Happy Holidays Everyone!!

Congratulations James! I just graduated from Animation Mentor and watched a lot of your critiques as I found them really inspiring and helpful with my own work.
All the best in Singapore (I have been there many times and love it!) So great to hear your excitement for the move and new work.
All the best for 2012.

Being your student was the best thing I could have experienced learning animation. It was an incredible class with you and I have learned a lot. You opened my mind on many things.

I hope one day to meet you in person.

Big news.. First to all I'm really happy for you I've seen you all around at AM and more than once I've said to myself this guy must be great animation supervisor. I wish you and your wife the best I really do James
on the other hand I'm devastated.. the first thing I did this semester when I logged in to AM was to look for your class... It hurt not to see it there... I'll try not to be selfish I know you've given us a lot of your time but I really wished I had the chance to be your student.. more than once when I was watching your critiques I said hey I truly want to know what he means with.. we'll talk about that in class.
We're left with your art I guess I'll be studying this as munch as I can.. once last thing, any chance you'll be writing some animation/drawing tips on your blog, That'll be great, again I know I'm being selfish but I really appreciate all your critiques and comments, even if they weren't for me ;)
Good luck on this new journey
I really love the last few posts. Excellent work!
